The stages of standards preparation and its issuance
First: Steps for standards preparation and its approval
- Item proposal for preparation a Palestinian standard
It starts with study on item proposal, so that:
- It should be aligned with the "Instructions for preparing Palestinian standards" No. 1 for 2003 year (below attached) and the "Standards low" No. 6 for 2006 year.
- International standards to be adopted as Palestinian standards according to ISO/IEC Guide 21-1: 2005, with the objective of:
- Assist in the liberalization of trade and access to new markets, through unification of local and international standards to have harmonized standards.
- Guarantee provide technical regulations approved internationally, due to the experience and qualification of participants in International standard development, who represent different countries all over the world.
- Due to fact, that the International standard is internationally approved by all members representing different countries in International standard development and commenting on it, so it will encourage the innovation and improvement and the creation of competitiveness, which leads to product quality assurance.
- Decrease the cost of production and preparation of standard, which need sometimes big scientific research and qualifications not available at local level.
2- Publication of standard draft on PSI website:
- A period of (60) days is given PSI, in order to receive comments from related parties on standards drafts.
- PSI replies on incoming comments from defined party (in case of request) by specialized TCs. After TC reply on comments, An extra period of (30) days will be given by PSI.
- By the end of (30) days period, a standard draft will be submitted to specialized TC, where a TC decision will be taken on Approval of TC final standard draft, to be submitted finally on the PSI Board of directors for approval.
Second: Publication of approved Palestinian standard - After approval by the PSI Board of directors, a Palestinian standard will be issued with title and number in official newspaper and on PSI website.
- PSI will inform related parties about the approved standards.
